Janis Lyn Joplin nasceva il 19 gennaio del 1943. Oggi avrebbe compiuto 67 anni.

“This shot of Grace Slick and Janis was taken in 1967 for Teen Set magazine for an article on the two Queen Bees of San Francisco Rock. That morning I went over to Grace’s house and then had to pick up Janis. Janis wasn’t in the mood to do any pictures that day, but I begged her and she came along. Everyone always thought there was a huge rivalry between Janis and Grace, but they were dear friends. This is the only time they were photographed together, and by the end of the session, we were all getting pretty silly and clowning around.” – Jim Marshall

(Questa foto di Grace Slick e Janis fu scattata nel 1967 per la rivista Teen Set, per un articolo sulle due Api Regine del Rock di San Francisco. Quella mattina andai a casa di Grace e Janis dovetti letteralmente trascinarla. Non era in vena di fare foto quel giorno, ma la supplicai e alla fine venne. Tutti credevano ci fosse un’enorme rivalità tra le due, invece erano buone amiche. Quella fu l’unica volta in cui furono fotografate assieme. Verso la fine della session ci prese la stupidera e cominciammo a fare i buffoni.)

Ascolto un pezzo meraviglioso di Janis (Kosmic Blues), che mi sarebbe piaciuto sentirle cantare dal vivo, e intanto scopro che Alla mia età di Tiziano Ferro è il disco più venduto in Italia nel 2009…
Datemi una macchina del tempo! Ho davvero sbagliato epoca…
